Introduction
Many radiological investigations have radiation considerations and therefore by law they have to be justified [1].
Most EDs have well developed guidelines for common problems. Where there are no guidelines available in the department then the next step would be to look up the small handbook produced by the Royal College of Radiologists [2]. This lists all the available radiological investigations, appropriate indications and the level of evidence to support their use.
