This session covers the emergency management of both bleeding in early pregnancy and antepartum haemorrhage (APH) Appropriate investigation and initial emergency interventions are considered including rhesus status and the administration of anti-D immunoglobulin.
After completing this session you will be able to:
- Recognise the different causes of bleeding in pregnancy with respect to the gestation of the pregnancy
- Commence resuscitation and initial management of bleeding in pregnancy
- Appropriately request and interpret ultrasound in the context of bleeding in early pregnancy
- Recognise when to administer anti-d immunoglobulin and use it appropriately
