A 77-year-old female presents to the Emergency Department (ED) following a simple trip whilst walking.
On examination you note bruising on the upper left cheek, with tenderness around the lateral left eye orbit, and upper left zygoma.
Examination of the cranial nerves of the eyes shows difficulty in looking upwards and vertical diplopia in the left eye.
The patient has no other injuries, and after a full assessment you have no other concerns for this fall.
You order facial view x-rays.
