Help! My baby’s eyes are full of pus!

A 5-week-old baby girl is brought in to the emergency department (ED) by her concerned mother. On assessment, she is comfortable with both eyes shut and the lids are covered in a watery pus-like discharge. There are no surrounding skin changes.

The baby cries when you open her eyes but the sclera is of normal colour, there is no swelling of the eyelids and pupils are equal and reactive to light. She is systemically well with normal observations.
