You are asked to see a 21-year-old student who cycled into a lamp post whilst intoxicated last night. He thinks his left foot became caught in the pedal somehow when he fell off. His left foot has become swollen and he has been unable to weight bear on it since. He has no other injuries.
You examine the foot and observe the following (see clinical image), however, his x-ray is reported as normal.
