Unstable patients
It is rare for PMB to present with catastrophic haemorrhage17,18 but if there is suspicion of major haemorrhage, perform a rapid A-E assessment and stabilise the patient before moving on to take a formal history and examination. Always be attentive to unexplained tachycardia, as the blood pressure may not drop initially19.
