Clinical Case 4
You are asked to see Katie, who was brought into the ED by ambulance, which she had called herself because “I feel like I’m dying”.
You see from her notes that she has a complex psychiatric history, including depression and anxiety, alcohol abuse and body dysmorphia. In the last 3 years she has made two significant suicide attempts which required inpatient management.
She is pale, sweating and shaking, doesn’t seem to be fully engaging with you when you introduce yourself and is unsteady on her feet when you ask her to move to a triage room.
