Radiation Exposure

This session provides an overview of the basic science of ionising radiation exposure for the emergency department (ED) physician as well as an approach to the investigation, treatment and management of a patient exposed to radiation.

By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Describe the phases of illness and injury caused by ionising radiation
  • Outline key management priorities when dealing with a radiation incident
