Treatment
There is no direct ED-based intervention to treat the myocardial contusion itself; treat the following if identified [3]:
- Fluid resuscitation with CVC monitoring to guide fluid management.
- Cardiac monitoring, as arrhythmias are common in myocardial injury.
- Arterial line and blood gas monitoring to ensure hypoxaemia or disturbances in acid-base balance are addressed, as these can also precipitate arrhythmias.
- Treat any arrhythmias expectantly as per ALS guidelines.
- Early ECHO [3]
