This module will look at the risk stratification and management of patients with acute pericarditis.

After completing this session you will be able to:

  • Describe the typical presenting features of a patient with acute pericarditis.
  • Risk stratify patients with pericarditis in order to perform a safe discharge from the Emergency Department.
  • Commence appropriate treatment for patients with acute pericarditis.
  • Recognise complications of pericarditis.
